If Nikki Sixx has a brain left he will do just as he has threatened to do for years now actually do what he says> "I don't want to be part of that trend where bands that have been around for more than 20 years become mellow," he said. "Even with U2, a band I respect, everything has this older, mellower feel to it. You hear that in a lot of rock bands. I don't mind having ballads and medium tempo songs..I just hope we never become a bunch of pussies." Amazing from a guy who once was cool...he makes this statement and is playing 2 dates with the STONES..contradiction has a new mascot. My advice is this...Record 'Shout at the Devil 2' and stop doing interviews.

Go ahead Punk...Rotten and Pursey brawl at US Embassy according to todays Sun...Punk idol John Lydon had to be dragged off rival Jimmy Pursey - after the pair brawled inside the US Embassy. Lydon...blew a fuse when he found himself in the queue for visas with Sham 69''s Pursey. Pursey tried to shake hands, Lydon yelled "F*** off!" and hurled a cup of coffee at his enemy. Pursey retaliated by kicking Lydon before the pair were separated by armed cops at the embassy in London's Grosvenor Square. Follow the link for the rest of this story.

Virgin Records will be releasing a unique John Lydon compilation on October 3rd. 'The Best of British $1 Notes' will be available as a single CD, or a special edition 2 CD pack featuring additional mixes and bonus tracks selected by John. 'The Best of British $1 Notes' covers John's whole career from the Sex Pistols, through PiL, to his solo records and collaborations, then ends with a brand new track - more than proving John Lydon can still "have it".

Old Skars and Upstarts 505 is the latest comp put together by the Master of Disaster Duane Peters. I own all of them and all of them rank in my top 10 all time best cd list. This new one, "the 505 edition" is no exception. It begins with the "Bad Lieutnants" doing 'Arizona Love' that kind of sets the pace for an in your face dose of punk rock from around the globe. The Hunns cover the classic VH track "Ain't Talkin' bout Love" and not only do it justice but actually make it better with Duane and Corey trading off on vocals throughout. AWESOME stuff! The Lizzies (feat. Corey) contribute "Baby Black and Blue". I can't wait to hear some more from this band. None of the bands on this cd disappoint. Instead they all give you a sense that punk rock is alive and well despite all the CRAP being thrown at everyone that is labeled "punk". Mr. Peters knows good music period. Now, as if this incredible comp cd isn't enough, he has organized a tour featuring a lot of the bands on this edition of Old Skars. [more inside]
